$8K → ~$80K per season (~10x)
~30-boat fleet
9 years continuous operation
Only operator on the lake
01The Origin
Rob originally built the site and ran the ads as a proof-of-concept for Mad Mango — to show his marketing could generate real demand. It worked so well he had to buy more kayaks to keep up. A natural extension of the family marina.
02The Moat
No competition on the lake itself — the nearest operators were an hour away on the Connecticut shoreline. Zoar Beach became the only operator on its water.
03The Growth
From ~$8,000 in year-one revenue to ~$80,000 in a four-month season (~10x), with a ~30-boat fleet and two full-time employees. Bookings come by phone and web form.
04How It Runs
Rob drives the demand and owns the operational structure, running it hands-on with his mother on community-level relationships.
