01The Origin
Domain expertise from working the family marina since age 14 (always the one pulling weeds). Rob saw the same worsening problem hurting everyone on his lake, started offering cleanup locally, then expanded across New England.
02The Model
Small jobs handled hands-on (Weed Razers, tarps, manual removal); large jobs he can't yet fulfill are monetized as a lead-generation business sold to a regional aquatic-services firm. Roadmap: buy harvester boats to bring it all in-house.
03The Validation
In year two, the State of Massachusetts called to clear an 8-mile lake — Rob had to decline for lack of capacity, proving both government-level demand and an unmet market. The constraint is equipment, not demand (he's pursuing grant funding).
